Terrorium

A 2D Bullet Hell game where you play as an insect in a terrarium arena. You play as a customizable bug and you fly around shooting at other hostile bugs, earning points and rackign up a score with combos. The brief for this project was to make a game similar to Luftrausers by Vlambear. The intention was for us to learn how to concept and implement fun and visceral mechanics and player actions, how to make a game just fun to play and how to come up with ideas.

This game was a team project where I worked with a small group to produce it. I acted as the lead designer, spending a majority of my time on documentation and concepting, I'm responsible for all the abilities and enemy designs. I did have a hand in the production however, as I helped out somewhat with programming and asset creation. I also made all the assets for the player bug, and made or concepted some of the ui (customization screen, menus).

Working in a team for this project was difficult because we would often disagree on what we wanted, so a great deal of patience and mediation was required to keep this project moving. As lead designer I was also made team leader, so I had to quickly learn how to manage communication and lead a team, which was by far the steepest learning curve on the project, but I found the experience valuable.

I think we put forth a good effort, but some miscommunication and issues within the team meant the project didn't reach the potential I felt it could have, but I'm still happy with the result.
